Election for President on July 18, results on July 21

New Delhi: The next President of India will be elected on July 18, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced on Thursday.
The notification for the election will be issued on July 15 and the last day for nomination is July 29. The date for scrutiny of nomination is June 30 and last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 2.
The election will be held on July 18. The vote count will take place on July 21.
The nomination papers for the President will have to be submitted in Delhi. There must be 50 proposers and 50 seconders from the electoral college.
While MPs will vote in Parliament, MLAs will vote in their assemblies. For those who want to vote from a different location, an application will have to be submitted to the Election Commission.
Rajiv Kumar said that political parties cannot issue a whip to their legislators for voting in the election. The voting will be through secret ballot. (UNI)
