New Delhi:In view of the farmers' protest under the 'Delhi Chalo' call, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday closed entry and exit gates at six Metro stations on the Green Line.
In a tweet, the DMRC said, '' Entry & exit gates of Brigadier Hoshiar Singh, Bahadurgarh City, Pandit Shree Ram Sharma, Tikri Border, Tikri Kalan and Ghevra stations on Green Line are now closed.''
Keeping in view the security concerns due to the farmers' protests under the 'Delhi Chalo' call, the Delhi Metro Rail services will be available only from the national capital towards the NCR stations, and not from NCR stations towards Delhi on Friday till further notice, the DMRC said here on Thursday.
The interim arrangement has been made in the wake of farmers' protests, with the ryots likely to head for the national capital from Punjab and Haryana side.
In a tweet, the DMRC said, ''As advised by Delhi Police, Metro services will be available only from Delhi towards the NCR sections. However, services from the NCR stations towards Delhi will not be available due to security reasons till further notice.''
On Thursday, Delhi's borders were put on alert with the deployment of security personnel, while the entry of vehicles was also being monitored with the use of drones, in the wake of the farmer protests or rallies under the call 'Delhi Chalo'.
The services by Delhi metro were restricted on Thursday and were available on all sections from 1700 hrs onwards. Heavy security arrangements have been put in place at the National Capital's boundaries, especially with Haryana at Singhu border, in view of the 'Delhi Chalo' call by the farmers on November 26 -27.(UNI)
