New Delhi:Food served in canteens of Parliament House complex for MPs and others is all set to cost more as the subsidy doled out for it has been stopped, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said .
While Mr Birla did not talk about the financial implications of the decision, it is likely that the Lok Sabha Secretariat would be able to save more than Rs. 8 crore every year on this account.

In an interaction with the media for the coming Budget session of Parliament which begins from January 29, Mr Birla said the Parliament canteens will now be run by ITDC in place of Northern Railways. He said that members of all parties had agreed to abolish the subsidy.

While Rajya Sabha will sit from 9 am to 2 pm, Lok Sabha will function in the second half from 4-8 pm. The Question Hour will be allowed during the session for an already fixed time of one hour.(UNI)
