Govt bans export of onion to curb the rising prices in the domestic market

New Delhi:The government on Monday completely bannedthe export of all varieties of onion except those cut, sliced or broken in powder form, to curb the rising prices of onions in the domestic market.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)  said in a notification issued here on Monday that to increase the availability of onion in the domestic market, it has been decided to stop its export.''The export of all varieties of onion is prohibited with immediate effect," the notification said.
 
This notification will be applicable to all varieties of onions.The ban also includes Bangalore rose onions and Krishnapuram onions.
