Gujarat Assembly Election Results: BJP set for record win

Gandhinagar: The ruling BJP has crossed the half-way mark in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly for which polling were held in two phases recently, as per Election Commission trends.
The ruling BJP is leading in 149 seats and inching towards a massive victory, the poll panel data showed on Thursday.
The Opposition Congress which was eyeing to return to the power is leading in 18 seats, followed by new entrant in the fray AAP six, Independent three and Samajwadi Party one, as per the EC.
Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's nominee from Ghatlodia Assembly constituency Bhupendra Patel is likely to retain the seat.
According to the EC, he polled 23,713 votes so far, followed by Congress candidate A Yajnik who got 3840 votes.
The Assembly elections were held in two phases on December 1 and December 5 with a turnout of 66.38 per cent.
Exit polls have predicted a clear victory for the BJP.
The BJP had won 99 seats and the Congress had won 77 seats in 2017. (UNI)
