Former PM H D Deve Gowda, his wife test positive for COVID-19

New Delhi:Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda on Wednesday announced that he and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19."My wife Chennamma and I have tested positive for COVID-19. We are self-isolating along with other family members," the 87-year-old minister said in a tweet.
"I request all those who came in contact with us over the last few days to get themselves tested. I request party workers and well-wishers not to panic,' he added.Former Prime Minister who served from June 1, 1996 to April 21, 1997 is presently a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing Karnataka.

Modi calls Deve Gowda & enquires about his & his wife's health
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday telephoned Mr H D Deve Gowda and inquired about his and his wife's health after they tested positive for Covid-19.
 
Mr Modi tweeted, "Spoke to former PM H-D-Devegowda Ji and enquired about his and his wife's health. Praying for their quick recovery."Later in a tweet, Devegowda said he was grateful to Mr Modi for calling and enquiring after his health.
 
'I am also deeply moved by his offer to get me treated in any hospital of my choice in any city. I assured him that I am being looked after well in Bengaluru, but will keep him informed," he added.(UNI)
