New Delhi/ Ahmedabad: Months ahead of the Gujarat elections, Patidar leader Hardik Patel resigned from the Congress on Wednesday, amid speculations that he may join BJP.
"Today I have decided to resign from the primary membership of Congress. I am confident all my supporters and people of Gujarat will welcome this decision." "I believe after taking this step, I will actually be able to do positive work for Gujarat in future," he said in a tweet.
In his resignation letter addressed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Patel took an apparent dig at Rahul Gandhi and said he felt 'senior leadership' is not interested in listening to people's issues.
He said when he met the 'senior leadership' they were more interested in their mobile phone than the issues of people of Gujarat.
He said "lack of seriousness" is a major problem with the Congress party's senior leadership.
Hardik Patel, who was a working president of Gujarat Congress, had recently skipped the Chintan Shivir of the party. Patel had also dropped 'Congress' from his Twitter bio. (UNI)
