Fatehabad (Haryana): Bishnoi community has raised an objection to calling Lawrence (Bishnoi) gang as 'Bishnoi gang'.

A meeting of the community was held at Bishnoi temple in Fatehabad, where people from the community said that if the need arises, they would approach the courts but won't tolerate the community's name to be associated with a gang.

The community members sought to clarify that if Lawrence was doing anything wrong, the community would not support his wrong-doings. They however said, if he was raising the community's demand in the deer hunting case involving actor Salman Khan, he was not wrong.

"Jeev Raksha Dal" President Hansraj Godaaraa said that no charges have been framed against Lawrence, yet a community is sought to be associated with a gang. Dal's general secretary Vinod Kaakad said that world over the Bisnoi community was known as living beings as well as environment lovers.

"Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the community", he said.

The meeting was attended by Bishnoi Sabha President Bhoop Singh Maanjhu, Secretary Mahavir Maanjhu and Sevak Dal official Surjeet Dhukia among others.

Notably, after the Lawarence Bishnoi's name was associated with the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar group) leader and former Minister Baba Siddique recently, a section of media started to refer Lawrence Bishnoi gang as "Bishnoi Gang" or "B" gang on the lines of "D" gang (Dawood Ibrahim gang).
