Home Min asks states to be vigilant before Ayodhya verdict

New Delhi:Ahead of the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid case, the Centre has asked all states to be vigilant and keep a close watch on the law and order situation.
As a precautionary measure, about 4,000 personnel of the central police forces have been sent to Uttar Pradesh, where the disputed place of worship is located.
Sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) told UNI here on Thursday that a general advisory has been sent to all the states in view of the Ayodhya verdict.
All states have been asked to take necessary precautionary measures to maintain law and order. The states have been told not to let any kind of unpleasant situation arise and keep a close watch on all activities post the apex court verdict.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also advised all ministers in the Central Council meeting to avoid unnecessary statements about this decision.
Before the decision, the Uttar Pradesh government has been asked by the Centre to take special precautions in view of the arrival of millions of devotees to Ayodhya. About 4,000 personnel of the central police forces have been sent there.
It is noteworthy that the Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ranjan Gogoi completed the hearing of the Ayodhya case on October 16 and reserved its decision.
The bench may pronounce its judgement in the case on November 17 before Justice Gogoi's retirement.
The resolution of this dispute that has been going on for decades has become the cynosure of all eyes.
Both parties have been saying so far that they will respect the verdict of the Supreme Court. Hindu and Muslim social organisations have appealed to the people to maintain social harmony in view of the decision.
