In a bid to provide relief to 70K critical patients, Reliance increases supply to over 700 MT of Oxygen daily

New Delhi: Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL) Jamnagar refinery has tweaked its manufacturing process to produce medical grade oxygen. Medical grade oxygen is NOT a product that was produced at the Jamnagar refinery earlier. With demand for medical grade oxygen rising due to rapid surge in a Covid – 19 cases, RIL has installed equipment and setup process to produce and supply medical-grade oxygen by diverting industrial oxygen to produce medical-grade oxygen. Every day nearly 700 MT of oxygen is being supplied to states across India. This will provide relief to over 70,000 critically ill patients daily. 
 
The entire supply of oxygen, including transportation in special tankers at (-) 183oC will be made at NO cost to the state governments as a part of RIL’s CSR initiative. This is one more initiative of the Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation to provide relief in the ongoing pandemic.
 
Reliance Foundation set up country’s first Covid hospital in Mumbai In collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Reliance Foundation setup India’s first, COVID-19 dedicated 100-bed hospital in just two weeks, which was soon scaled up to 250 beds. Reliance built a fully-equipped isolation facility in Lodhivali, Maharashtra and handed it over to the District authorities. Reliance Foundation also supported the setting up of a quarantine ward for suspected patients at Spandan Holistic Mother-And-Child Care Hospital in Mumbai.
 
Reliance Foundation supported digital and medical infrastructure at Sardar Patel COVID-19 Care Centre, Delhi. In addition, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital set up an exclusive 10 bedded dialysis centre in HBT Trauma Hospital, Mumbai in collaboration with BMC.  Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital was the first institute in Maharashtra identified by ICMR to be part of a multicentre clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of plasma therapy. Responding to the evolving situation, the Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital also provided a unique solution of home quarantine services. The service offers medicines and consumables, vitals monitoring devices, home disinfectants, video consulting doctor, home nursing service and home sample collection.
 
Reliance Industries produces 1,00,000 PPE and face masks per day for India’s health and frontline workers. To keep the Emergency Services uninterrupted, Reliance provided over 5.5 lakh litres of free fuel, supporting over 14,000 ambulances across 249 districts in 18 states.  Reliance Life Sciences is providing test kits and consumables for effective testing, helping enhance India’s testing capacity.
 
To support marginalised and under-resourced communities during the lockdown, Reliance Foundation launched Mission Anna Seva, the largest meal distribution programme undertaken by a corporate foundation anywhere in the world. Mission Anna Seva has provided over 5.5 crore meals across 80+ districts, 18 states and 1 Union Territory. Under this programme, Reliance Foundation provided cooked meals, ready-to-eat food packets, food coupons and dry ration kits to needy families including daily wage earners, slum dwellers, urban service providers, factory workers, as well as supporting frontline warriors. Relief kits and bulk rations were also supplied to over 80 partners engaged in hunger alleviation programmes and distribution was supported by 2400 volunteers across the nation.
 
The entire Reliance family joined forces to strengthen the nation’s fight against COVID-19. Reliance donated Rs 556 crore to various relief funds including PM-CARES Fund. Reliance Foundation has also provided specialist help and advice to Gram Panchayat leaders and other community groups on various schemes for financial support and livelihood opportunities through virtual audio-visual conferences for farmers, fishermen, livestock owners and migrant labourers. Reliance Foundation’s Mobile Medical Units helped raise awareness about precautionary measures in rural communities.  Reliance Foundation also provided food for stray animals, fodder for cattle and grain feed for birds.
 
In addition Reliance Foundation launched Mission Covid Suraksha, a mask distribution program, to reinforce the message of preventing the spread of coronavirus by wearing a mask.  Reliance Foundation has distributed over 67 lakh masks to frontline workers and vulnerable communities across 21 States and 2 Union Territories.
 
Reliance Retail is ensuring availability of essentials through all 736 grocery stores so that citizens need not stock up. Along with home delivery services for senior citizens, takeaway orders from the stores have also been facilitated so that the consumers and staff are not exposed. Jio has been providing uninterrupted and reliable digital connectivity to over 40 crore individuals and thousands of organisations.
 
Through its continuous effort to serve the country and its people during the pandemic, Reliance and the whole Reliance family has demonstrated its will and the capacity to rise-up to the situation by mobilizing all the necessary physical, human and technological resources to support the nation in this time of need.
