India logs 22,775 new COVID cases, 406 deaths recorded in past 24 hours

New Delhi:India recorded 22,775 new Covid cases during the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
According to a bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,48,61,579, while the death toll climbed to 4,81,486 as 406 more people succumbed to the virus.
On the other hand, 8,949 more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,42, 75,312.
The recovery rate stands at 98.32 percent.The active caseload now stands at 1,04,781, the figures showed.
As per the bulletin, a total of 1,431 cases of new variant of Covid-19 Omicron have been detected so far in the country. Maharashtra reported the maximum at 454, followed by Delhi 351 and Tamil Nadu 118.
Of these cases, 488 people were discharged/recovered/ migrated, the Ministry said.The Ministry further said, 67.89 crore tests for Covid-19 have been carried out so far. (UNI)
