India reports 15,144 new cases of COVID-19; active cases dip below 2%

New Delhi: India recorded 15,144 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,05,57,985, while the death toll soared to 1,52,274 with 181 fresh fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases further shrank by 2207 to stand at 2,08,826. It is now 1.98 per cent of the total caseload.
The past 24 hours saw 17,170 people recovering from the potentially deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,01,96,885, which is 96.58 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.44 per cent.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,79,377 samples were tested on Saturday, taking the total number of tests carried out by the body till date to 18,65,44,868. (UNI)
