India's Covid-19 tally surpasses 81,000-mark with 2,649 deaths; 27,919 cured

New Delhi:The total number of COVID-19 cases in India surpassed the 81,000-mark, reaching 81,970 in the country on Friday, Union Health Ministry informed. 

The number of deaths in India rose to 2,649 with 100 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.According to the ministry, the number of recovered cases across the nation have also witnessed an improvement, and so far 27,919 patients i e 33.6 per cent have been cured and discharged till Thursday. 

The doubling rate of the infection cases have also slowed down to 14 days till Thursday, it said. On Thursday morning the number of COVID-19 cases in the country was 78,003, and the death toll was 2,549.Active cases of COVID-19 in the country at present are 51,401.(UNI)
