Infosys Co-Founder and author Sudha Murty nominated to Rajya Sabha, announces PM Modi

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday nominated educator, author and philanthropist Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha.
 
This was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a post on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter).
 
Modi said, "Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our 'Nari Shakti".
 
"I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji's contributions to diverse fields, including social work, philanthropy and education, have been immense and inspiring. Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our 'Nari Shakti', exemplifying the strength and potential of women in shaping our nation's destiny. Wishing her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure," the PM said.



President Droupadi Murmu on Friday nominated educator, author and philanthropist Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha.
 
Born on August 19, 1950, in Karnataka's Shiggaon, she began her career as a computer scientist and engineer.
 
Sudha Murty, wife of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, is a prolific writer in Kannada and English, authoring novels, technical books, and travelogues.
 
She is the mother of Akshata Murty, who is married to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
