J&K: Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, terrorist behind civilian killing, gunned down in Bandipora encounter

Srinagar: A militant who was involved in a recent civilian killing was among the two militants killed in two separate encounters in Bandipora and Anantnag districts of Kashmir, police said.
A local militant was killed in a gunfight at Gund Jahangir Hajin Bandipora this morning.
Police said the gunfight erupted when a joint operation was launched based on specific inputs.
“During the combing, contact with terrorists was established and one terrorist got killed. The operation is in progress,” a police officer said.
Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police identified the slain as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar who was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (The Resistance Front).
“Killed #terrorist has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT (TRF). He was involved in the recent civilian killing at Shahgund Bandipora,” IGP Kashmir said.
On Sunday, four militant associates from Bandipora who were part of the civilian killing were arrested.
Meanwhile, an unidentified militant was killed in an overnight gunfight in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
The gunfight erupted when joint teams of police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and a search operation after an input about the presence of militants in the area.
“As the search began, the hiding terrorists opened fire which retaliated, triggering an encounter. In the operation so far an unidentified terrorist was killed and a policeman also got injured. The operation is in progress,” a police officer said.
The injured cop was shifted to hospital for treatment. (UNI)
