Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested two militant associates belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
A police spokesperson said following specific information, a joint team of police, 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 130 battalion of CRPF arrested two militant associates, identified as Shezaan Gulzar Beigh and Waseem-ul-Rehman Sheikh, from Awantipora.
“The militant associates are involved in providing shelter, support, logistics, as well as in transporting of arms/ ammunition of the militants in Awantipora and Tral,” he said.
He said the duo also used to pass sensitive information to the militants of proscribed outfit JeM.
“Incriminating materials, including ammunition, have been recovered from both the arrested militant associates,” he said.
He said the arrested militant associates have been in touch with the commanders at Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) through various Social Media platforms.
“One of the arrested militant associate had also gone to PoK and had met some militant commanders there,” he said.
He said lot of false narratives have been uploaded on FaceBook Page being operated by one of the arrested militant associates to influence and misguide the gullible youth towards the path of violence.
“Case stands registered against the arrested militant associates in Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law. Further investigation/ questioning is going on,” he added. (UNI)
