New Delh: Justice Jasti Chelameswar, of the Supreme Court, who led the explosive news conference on January 12 against the CJI Dipak Misra, will demit office later on Friday. The second seniormost judge of the apex court had voiced dissent against the Chief Justice of India's selective allocation of cases.
Justice Chelameswar, who had joined as a Supreme Court judge on October 10, 2011, was part of the nine-judge bench that had delivered an historic judgement that the entitlement of privacy of a citizen was a fundamental right.The Private Secretary, who had worked with Justice Chelameswar from the very beginning when he joined as an apex court judge, said,'' I will remember him as a very good human being also. He has upheld the dignity of the judiciary.''
The aide declined to comment on the January 12 briefing held by Justice Chelameswar along with three other judges of the Supreme Court--Justices Kurian Joseph, Madan Bhimrao Lokur and Ranjan Gogoi.Justice Chelameswar had served as an apex court judge for six years, eight months and twelve days.(UNI)
