Kalyan Singh's aide & Lodhi leader Verma finds place in Modi ministry

New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh B L Verma started his political journey as a party leader from Badaun and was a close associate of former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh.
He is presently national vice president of the party’s OBC Morcha.He is a prominent leader among the OBC communities especially the Lodhi community in western UP.
 
When Kalyan Singh was expelled from the BJP, he too was among the leaders to part ways. But when Kalyan returned back, he too rejoined the BJP.
 
He was made state vice-president in 2018. Verma is a former president of the Braj region.
 
He also held the post of chairman of UP State Construction Development Corporation Limited (UP Samaj Kalyan Nirman Nigam) which has the same status as of a Minister of State in 2018.
 
In November 2020, Mr Verma was elected to Rajya Sabha on BJP ticket.He is a post graduate and a good organisational person and has a good hold on the Lodhi community in the Braj region.(UNI)
