Kashmir files: CRPF jawan martyred in sopore, Terrorist killed in Rajouri

Srinagar:A Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was resumed with the first light by security forces on Wednesday after brief encounter with militants at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.Meanwhile, mobile internet has been suspended for security reasons in Pulwama.
Official sources said that on a tip off about presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K police, Army and CRPF at Bilalabad area near Tral town in Pulwama.However, they further said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants, hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons.
''The security forces retaliated ensuing in an encounter at around 2300 hrs on Tuesday'', they stated.They further stated that the militants managed to escape from the house they were trapped in under the cover of darkness.
''The operation was halted though additional security forces were rushed to the area and all the exit points were sealed, they affirmed.They added with the first light on Wednesday morning security forces were conducting house-to-house searches in the area.
CRPF jawan, civilian killed in militant attack in Sopore
Srinagar: A CRPF jawan and a civilian were killed while three other personnel were injured in a militant attack on security force patrolling party in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Wednesday.
Official sources said that militants fired at a patrolling party of CRPF at Model town Sopore in Baramulla resulting in injuries to four jawans and a civilian.
They further said the injured were immediately taken to a hospital, where a CRPF jawan and a civilian succumbed.''The health condition of two more CRPF jawans stated to be critical,'' they stated.
Army foils infiltration bid on LoC in Rajouri, terrorist killed
Jammu:Army troops early morning on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid and eliminated one terrorist along the Line of Control in Keri sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.Defence spokesperson here said that, ''at around 0555 hours, a group of terrorists fired upon when they sneaked into the Indian Territory on this side of the Line of Control.''
He further said that based on specific intelligence inputs from J&K Police, a joint operation was launched close to Line of Control in Keri area of Bhimber Gali Sector in District Rajouri. "Terrorists were seen crossing the Line of Control, alert troops of Indian Army foiled the infiltration bid resulting in killing of one terrorist," he stated.
The spokesperson further stated that one AK-47 with two magazines recovered from the spot while the search operation was in progress.Security forces have so far killed 128 terrorists this year including 48 in the month of June in different operation across Jammu and Kashmir.(UNI)
