New Delhi: BJP on Wednesday slammed the Kejriwal government for not taking concrete steps to control the air pollution in the national capital and alleged that the state government has spent over Rs 15 crore on pollution control-related advertisements.

"Arvind Kejriwal government spent over Rs 15 crore on pollution control-related advertisements, however, the Delhi air quality is at its worst," said BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra in a press conference here.

Patra said even the Supreme Court recently reprimanded the Kejriwal government over the advertising issues and said, "We should do an audit and see how much income you earn and how much you spend on your advertising."

Reading out the RTI reply, he alleged that the Kejriwal government has spent Rs 23,60,000 on Biodegradable spay and only 310 Delhi farmers got the benefit out of it.

"Out of a total 30,000 hectare of land, only 800 hectares has been sprayed," he said.

Accusing the Chief Minister of not working towards managing the issue of pollution and doing "politics" over the issues, he said "Delhi Chief Minister must stop passing the buck and should take the concrete steps to control the pollution.

"Kejriwal ji has said a lot about stubble. He has also blamed the farmers of Punjab and Haryana for pollution in Delhi. If it was the case, then Punjab and Haryana should have the maximum pollution," he said.

He said the Supreme Court is hearing the matter on Delhi pollution and the way it was affecting the future of children, "we should set aside the political differences and work together".

State BJP president Adesh Gupta, who was also present in the press conference, said, "Delhi BJP will hand over a check of Rs 40,000 to Kejriwal ji tomorrow (November 18) at 12 o'clock and BJP will work with Delhi government in reducing the pollution.

"Kejriwal himself is busy in the political tour in Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand and left the Delhiites to breathe the poisonous air," he alleged. (UNI)
