Kerala: 26-yr-old woman body found in half-naked in water stream; accused held

Kozhikode: Perambra police on Sunday arrested a person, in connection with the murder of K Anu(26) of Valoor, whose body was found lying around one kilometer away from her husband's house, at Aliyarathottil (stream) in mysterious circumstances on March 12.
 
Police arrested Mujeeb Rahman (45) of Kondotty in Malappuram in this connection, who was also implicated in around 55 cases at various police stations including rape.
 
Perambra Sub Inspector M. A Santhosh led team took him to custody from his house at Edavannappara on Saturday night and he confessed to the crime held during a robbery bid during the interrogation.

Police also recovered a motorbike and an overcoat used by the accused at the incident time from Edavannappara in Malappuram district. The used motorbike was stolen from Mattanur in Kannur district. The stolen gold ornaments were also recovered from a shop in Kondotty.
 
It was on March 12, The body of K Anu(26) was found in a half-naked position lying in a stream with water only up to the knees. The gold ornaments were also not seen on the body, however, her mobile phone, chappels, and money purse were found near the stream.
 
Police suspected foul play as the water level in the canal was only knee-deep, raising suspicions of murder.
 
Police investigation revealed that Anu left the house at around 1000 hrs on March 11 to a nearby hospital along with her husband, who was waiting at another bus stand. At that time Mujeeb Rahman came in a motorbike and offered her a lift to meet her husband, this was noticed by some local persons.
 
But, Mujeeb pushed her into a stream and stomped his head in the water for stealing the ornaments. Police also recovered the footage of Mujeeb Rahman from a CCTV showing that he was riding a red motorbike, this ended with his arrest, police said.
