Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar has strongly condemned the registration of an FIR against 27 RSS workers who created a Pookkalam (floral carpet) featuring the words “Operation Sindoor” in front of the Parthasarathy temple at Sasthamkotta, Muthupilakkad in Kollam district.

In a statement, Chandrasekhar described the police action as 'absolutely unacceptable' and demanded the immediate withdrawal of what he termed a 'shameful and seditious FIR.'

“Operation Sindoor is our pride. It symbolises the valour and courage of India’s armed forces. It was the operation that avenged the killing of 26 innocent tourists who were murdered after being asked their religion,” he said.

Alleging that the FIR was an insult to the memory of the victims of terrorism, their families, and every soldier who defends the nation “with blood and sacrifice,” the BJP leader said thousands of Malayalis serve in the armed forces and lay down their lives for the Tricolour.

“In the name of every Malayali who believes in serving the nation, this appeasement will be opposed. Kerala is not, and will never be, a land ruled by Jamaat-e-Islami or Pakistan," he asserted.

The controversy erupted after police directed the removal of Onam Athapoovu (floral decorations) carrying the message “Operation Sindoor” from the temple premises, triggering sharp political reactions.

Chandrasekhar also warned the Kerala Police and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan 'not to forget that this is India' and urged them to withdraw the case without delay. (Inputs from UNI)
