Kerala cops to get 5 canines, the same breed who hunted down Baghdadi

Thiruvananthapuram:Kerala Police will strengthen its dog squad by procuring more number of dogs including 'Belgian Malinois' breed which played a major role in the US raid in Syria that led to the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
A decision in this regard was taken after  the State Police gunned down three Maoists in an encounter at Attapadi in Palakkad recently.
 
Kerala Police will procure 15 dogs including five 'Belgian Malinois' breed from the Punjab Kennel Institute, sources said on Wednesday.
 
It may be noted that Belgian Malinois dog, US K9 squad commando 'Conan' was credited by US President Donald Trump for her role in  the killing of the world's most wanted terrorist Abu Bakr al-baghdadi.
 
Conan was unleashed on the ISIS leader in the final approach, forcing him to blow himself up at the end of a dark tunnel in Syria. Following the role of Conan came into light, the 'Belgian Malinois' is in high demand.
 
Eleven dogs are on the verge of retirement in the dog squad of the state police department which currently having 127 dogs against the sanctioned strength of 150, sources said.(UNI)
