Killing of BJP MLA in Bengal creates outrage, CBI probe demanded

Kolkata/Raiganj:BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda today condemned the suspected "heinous killing" of Debendra Nath Ray, BJP MLA from Hemtabad in West
Bengal's North Bengal district, saying, " This speaks of the Gunda Raj & failure of law and
order in the Mamata Banerjee Government-ruled state. "
Mr Nadda on his Twitter post said, " It is extremely shocking and deplorable. This speaks of
the Gunda Raj & failure of law and order in the Mamta govt. People will not forgive such a govt
in the future. We strongly condemn this." Party's state president Dilip Ghosh, who is expected to rush to the northern district along with his leaders, demanded a CBI probe, saying their party MLA was murdered by his known people as he came out of home around 1 AM after a call from them.

59-year-old Roy, who won on the CPI(M) ticket in 2016 Assembly election and switched over
to the saffron brigade in 2019, was found dead 1 km away from his home as his hangng body
was found in front of a closed grocery shop early this morning.BJP national general secretary B L Santhosh while condemning the alleged crime said, " Sri Debendranath Ray , BJP MLA from Hemtabad (Reserved ) was found dead & hanging near his house. He had joined Party during 2019 elections . People in the neighbourhood tell he was killed & hanged . One more brutal killing in @MamataOfficial goonda Raj. "
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said, " Political violence and vendetta@MamataOfficial shows no signs of abating. "He said, " Death of Debendra Nath Roy, Hemtabad MLA-Uttar Dinajpur District, raises serious issues including allegations of murder. Need for thorough impartial probe to unravel truth and blunt political violence. "
Mystery shrouds over unnatural death of BJP MLA; Party demands CBI probe
Raiganj: Mystery shrouded the death of BJP MLA from Hemtabad in North Dinajpur district Debendra Nath Roy (59), who was found hanging in front of a grocery shop in Bindal village, about a km away from his home early today.
BJP leadership and relatives of the family alleged that Roy was first murdered and then
was hung.Police investigating the unnatural death said the cause of the death will be ascertained after autopsy as the body was sent to the government hospital in Raigunj.
In May 2019, he along with Subhranshu Roy, Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and more than
50 Councillors joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of senior BJP leaders
Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi.
Roy was earlier a CPI(M) MLA but changed camps and joined BJP in 2019.Family members claimed that Roy around 1 AM moved out from his Balia home after a call from some people who came in motorcycles.
