Lakhimpur Kheri violence: UP govt to give Rs 45 lakh compensation, job to kin of 4 deceased farmers

Lakhimpur Kheri: A day after the violence in which nine people including four farmers and a journalist were killed, an agreement has been reached between the agitating farmers and Uttar Pradesh government on Monday.
The government has accepted a judicial probe by a retired judge of High Court, Rs 45 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased, a government job as per their qualification, Rs 10 lakhs for injured and time bound action against the guilty people.
In a joint press conference here by farmer leader Rakesh Tikait and ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar, the details of the agreement were announced to the media.
Mr Kumar said very soon the name of the Judge would be announced for the judicial probe.
The ADG said that an agreement has been reached with the farmers that the guilty people would be arrested within eight days. He said two FIRs have been registered and now police will investigate to nab the guilty people.
In one of the FIR, union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra Teni's son Ashish has been made the prime accused by the farmers.
ADG also said that STF has also been roped in to assist the police to nab the criminals responsible for the violence.
Mr Rakesh Tikait too said that farmers are satisfied with the government's move and the compensation given to the families of the deceased. He assured that farmers would fully cooperate with the police in the investigation.
The agreement was reached after two rounds of talks between the government authorities and farmer leaders led by Rakesh Tikait. (UNI)
