Mumbai: A retired sub inspector of police from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) shot at his daughter and son-in-law for their love marriage in Chopra in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra police said here on Sunday.
The incident took place at 10 pm on Saturday in Chopda, during a family function according to the police.
The daughter died on the spot, while the son-in-law was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
The accused father, who opened fire during the function, is in serious condition after being beaten up by attendees.
According to information received, Kiran Mangle, a retired PSI shot his daughter Trupti and her husband Avinash Wagh during the Haldi function of one of his relative which was attended by his daughter, son-in-law and other relatives.
Trupti Avinash Wagh, 24, and Avinash Ishwar Wagh, 28, from Kothrud, Pune, had a love marriage two years ago. The girl's father, Karan Arjan Mangle, 48, from Shirpur, did not approve of the marriage and was angry about it.
