Srinagar: Four militants were killed when alert troops foiled a major infiltration bid from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in the woods in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Official sources said that a search party of Army intercepted a group of militants, which had sneaked into this side of the Line of Control (LoC), at Boniyar woods in Baramulla.
When challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire, they said, adding troops also retaliated and in the ensuing encounter four militants were killed.
“The bodies of all the four slain militants have been recovered and arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site,” they said.
They said the operation is still going to sanitize the area. (UNI)
