Before Gujarat results are out, Modi will start election campaign in this state

New Delhi: No sooner elections will be over in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to plunge himself into the electoral heat and dust of Meghalaya. 

According to BJP sources, Mr Modi will launch party's - "yet another ambitious" election campaign in the northeastern state on December 16.The two phase polling in Gujarat will end on December 14.Besides Meghalaya, two other northeastern states CPI-M ruled Tripura and Nagaland also go to the polls by February-March next year.The tenure of the present Meghalaya state assembly expires on March 6, 2018.

Among other programmes, the Prime Minister is likely to announce an election rally at Shillong on December 16.A fierce electoral fray is on cards in Meghalaya as BJP is trying to establish to be hold in the Christian state.The Congress is in power in the state since May 2009 and BJP leaders have hinted towards making a bid for power in the state in alliance with regional parties like Conrad Sangma-led National People's Party.The BJP has earlier shared power in the state with regional parties.
