Mortal remains of Vajpayee taken to BJP Headquarters

New Delhi: The mortal  remains of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were on Friday taken to the BJP headquarters at Deendayal Upadhyay Marg.The mortal remains of the BJP stalwart were taken in a truck from his residence at Krishna Menon marg to the party headquarters.
Scores of admirers of the late prime minister accompanied the procession as his body was being taken from his residence to BJP headquarters.

As the procession moved, people were seen chanting 'Atal Bihari amar rahe' and 'Vande Mataram' One of his admirers, Pawan , said he had written a poem on  Vajpayee when he was eight years old.
 
Earlier, people from all walks of life paid their last respects to him after his mortal remains were brought to his residence on Thursday evening.
 
President Ram Nath Kovind , Prime Minister Narendra Modi , senior BJP leader L K Advani, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh , former congress president Sonia Gandhi and current president Rahul Gandhi were among those who paid  tribute to the departed soul.
 
Besides,  Home Minister Rajnath Singh , External Affairs Minister  Sushma Swaraj, minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju and senior BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi are also among those who paid homage to him.Vajpayee passed away at AIIMS on Thursday evening following a prolonged illness.
 
His body will be kept at the BJP headquarters for common people to pay their last respects.The last journey will begin at 1300 hrs followed by cremation at 1600 hrs at the Smriti sthal.
