Agartala: Union Minister of State for Empowerment and Social Justice Pratima Bhoumik sought action from Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav regarding upgradation of railway service in Tripura and requested to start more trains to the specific destinations for the convenience of the devotees and traders, Bhoumik said media here on Saturday.
Bhoumik told the minister that she had visited Deoghar recently and met the authority of Anukul Thakur Ashram who asked her to arrange another train from Tripura to Deoghar to manage the travel of devotees. A weekly train is currently operating from Agartala to Deoghar, as a result, devotees who go to Deoghar have to wait at least seven days to return.
“The minister agreed to run one more train to Deoghar soon,” she stated adding that a large number of devotees from Tripura visit Sri Lanka Bihari Dham Vrindavan and Jagannath Dham Puri but there are no direct train services and she demanded to start at least one weekly train for their convenience.
“Also as there is no dedicated train running from Agartala to Guwahati yet, I requested the Railway Minister to run a train on this route and he immediately directed officials to make quick arrangements to run a demo train on Agartala and Guwahati routes. This will benefit the businessmen of the state, increase the number of tourists in the state and also benefit the students from the state who travel to Guwahati for various exams,” she added.(UNI)
