Mumbai Indians should use Ishan Kishan as a floater: Saba Karim

Bengaluru: Former Indian wicket keeper Saba Karim Friday said Ishan Kishan should be used as a floater, not as top order batsman, because Mumbai Indians have a settled batting unit and depth in batting order.

"Ishan Kishan is not needed at the top of the order for MI. The team uses him well at number 4. I don’t think they will want to make any such changes. They have a settled batting unit and also have a lot of depth in their batting order," Karim told Khelneeti, a Youtube channel.

Ishan Kishan is a type of a player who can be used as a floater and have a similar role with the Indian team, he said.

Talking on MI's Surya Kumar Yadav, Karim said Mumbai rely heavily on his batting and hoped that the franchise would look to retain him for their upcoming seasons.

"Mumbai rely heavily on Suryakumar Yadav’s batting. His name will also come up for sure when the franchise looks for the players to retain for their upcoming seasons," he said.

Mumbai Indians are lucky to have someone like Suryakumar who can come in to bat at number 3 or 4 and can anchor the innings, while also hitting boundary shots when needed, Karim said.

Both MI players are gearing up for their maiden World Cup campaigns by hoping to do well in the second leg of the IPL this season. They are amongst six MI players who have been selected for the T20 World Cup tournament.
