New York:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said it must be ensured that Afghanistan’s territory is not used to spread terrorism or for terror attacks on any other country, and, without naming Pakistan, said countries that along with regressive thinking use terrorism as a political tool should understand that terrorism would pose a problem for them too.
Addressing the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister, speaking in Hindi, said: “Today the danger of regressive thinking and extremism is growing in the world. In this situation, the world should make science-based, rational and progressive thinking the basis for development.”
“Along with regressive thinking the country that uses terrorism as a political tool should understand that terrorism poses as great a problem for them too,” he said in an obvious reference to Pakistan.
“It should be ensured that Afghanistan’s territory is not used to spread terrorism or for terrorist attacks on any other country.”
He also attacked China, without naming the country.Referring to ocean resources, he said: “Our oceans are our shared resources, and that is why we must keep in mind that we should use ocean resources, not abuse them.
“Our oceans are the lifeline of international trade, we have to save them from the drive for expansionism and exclusionism.”
He said the international community must raise its voice as one to strengthen a rules-based world order.(UNI)
