With thousands of Indians - mostly students - stuck in Ukraine, government of India has scaled up the efforts to evacuate them from war-hit country. They have been asked to travel to the borders of the neighbouring Poland, Romania, and Hungary in order for evacuation. Yet, several videos circulated on social media alleged that Indian students are being stopped, harassed, and beaten up at the country's border with Poland and Romania.

Sharing one such viral video, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi appealed to the government to urgently share their evacuation plan with those stranded.

"My heart goes out to the Indian students suffering such violence and their family watching these videos. No parent should go through this. GOI must urgently share the detailed evacuation plan with those stranded as well as their families. We can’t abandon our own people," Gandhi wrote on Twitter.

In the viral video, guards in uniforms can be seen manhandling a few students, including girls, where sounds of gun shots can also be heard. "Look, how are they thrashing the girls," a man is heard saying in the video.

Many videos are coming out on social media where Indian students are alleging that the border troops are only allowing Ukrainians to cross the border.
