Myanmar student died of snake bite while collecting mushrooms on Acharya Nagarjuna University campus

Vijayawada: In a bizarre incident, a foreign student was killed when he was bitten by a snake near the Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) on Sunday.
 
Police said that the deceased Kondanna, belonged to Myanmar, and he was studying MA in Buddhism at ANU.
 
He was bitten by a Russell viper snake while collecting mushrooms on the college campus. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The University officials informed his parents about his death.
 
State Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed shock and grief over the death. In a statement here on Sunday, he directed the University officials to take steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur on the campus. The Minister also assured of extending all needed help to the bereaved family.
