New Delhi: An Indian Army inquiry team carrying out investigations into the Dec 4 Oting incident in which 13 innocent civilians were killed in Nagaland's Mon district will visit ground zero on Wednesday, sources said.
The state security apparatus has made necessary arrangements so as to ensure smooth conduct of the inquiry and has put in place mechanisms to stop any untoward incident, sources said.
Earlier some reports claimed that Konyak civil society organisations allowed the investigation at ground zero on condition that the probe was carried out without arms.
The Indian Army had on Sunday said that its probe into the incident is progressing expeditiously and all efforts were being made to conclude the inquiry at the earliest.
The Indian Army had also shared a dedicated WhatsApp number and an Army Helpline Number to get the leads including videos, photos or any other material from original sources on the events connected to the incident.
The Indian Army again regretted the loss of lives during incident saying the loss of lives was indeed sad and unfortunate.
The Indian Army in the statement said that it was fully cooperating with the Special Investigation Team inquiry ordered by the state govt and that required details were being shared in a timely manner.
Assuring the people of "action in accordance with the law to secure justice for all," the Indian Army requested the people of Nagaland to be patient and wait for the findings of the Army inquiry.
The Indian Army has been carrying out an internal inquiry under a Maj Gen rank officer into the incident in which 13 civilians and a soldier were killed when the counter insurgency operation went tragically wrong.
