A statement issued by the media cell of the Tuensang Sadar-1 BJP said it has recognised that the use of the song has hurt the sentiments of the Christian community.
The party explained that it did not intend blasphemy and that the use of the song was a result of "total unawareness and ignorance", "to express support to the candidate".
The BJP unit stated that the song was chosen without proper deliberation of its religious significance and that they deeply regret the mistake now. They sought pardon from the Christian communities and prayed that the incident will be a revelation in edifying their faith and making Naga believers more vigilant in the future. (UNI)
