Naveen went to Ukraine as he couldn’t get medical seat despite 97% marks: Father

The father of Karnataka student Naveen Shekharappa, who died in the Russian attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine, has expressed his anguish over the medical education system in India. Naveen’s father revealed how his son couldn’t get admission in the government college despite scoring 97 % marks.
Gyanagoudra Shekharappa said his son Naveen could not secure a medical seat in the state despite scoring 97% in the pre-University course. He went to study in Ukraine because medical education was more affordable abroad.
“Despite scoring 97% in PUC, my son could not secure a medical seat in State. To get a medical seat one has to give crores of rupees and students are getting same education abroad spending less money,” Naveen's father told ANI.

Naveen Shekharappa, a fourth-year MBBS student who died in the Russian shelling in Kharkiv, was a native of Chalageri village in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district.
