New Delhi: Nearly 40 schools across Delhi received bomb threat emails on Monday morning, following which students from some schools, including Delhi Public School in RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, were sent home.

The police said that a ransom of USD 30,000 was demanded in the threat emails.

As soon as the police received the information, a team from the Delhi Police and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) arrived at DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka in Paschim Vihar, along with officials from the fire department.

Following this incident, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal questioned Home Minister Amit Shah over the state of law and order in Delhi.

“The people of Delhi have never seen such a bad state of law and order before. Amit Shah ji should come and answer the people of Delhi,” he tweeted.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said, “After the daily incidents of ransom demands, murders, and shootings in Delhi, we are now receiving threats to bomb schools.”

“The law and order situation in Delhi has never been so bad. The BJP-ruled central government has failed in its only task of providing security to the people of Delhi,” she added in a tweet.

The schools that received the threat emails include Delhi Public School in RK Puram, GD Goenka in Paschim Vihar, Mother Mary’s School in Mayur Vihar, The British School in Chanakyapuri, Salwan Public School in Mayur Vihar, Modern School in Mandi House, Cambridge School, Delhi Public School in Vasant Kunj, and a few DAV schools, among others.
