NIA raids at 10 locations in TN over suspected Islamic state links

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches of  the houses of the accused of Keelakaran case at 10 locations at  Muthupet, Keelakarai, Devipattinam, Lalpet and Salem in connection with investigation of the case.
  
According to NIA, during searches, a number of digital devices including  three Laptops,  three Hard discs, 16 mobile phones, eight  SIM cards, two pen drives, five memory cards and one card reader besides two knives and a large number  of incriminating documents have been seized.
 
This case is related to a group of ten persons from different parts of Tamil Nadu who had formed a WhatsApp group named " Shahadat is our Goal"." In 2018, this group conspired together to procure arms for their terrorist gang, to raise funds to wage armed struggle, to facilitate the escape of terrorists from jail and to propagate their ideology, to act against the State", the probe agency said.  
 
The case was initially registered on  April 2, 2018 Keelakarai Police Station of Ramanathapuram district in Tamilnadu under section of  153A, 120B of IPC 15(1)(c) read with  17, 18, 19 and  20 of UA(P) Act  besides section 25(1) (a) of Arms Act against ten accused, out of which nine accused were arrested but later on they were  released on bail by the Court and one accused is still absconding, the NIA further said.
