Nitish faction meets EC, claims to be ‘real’ JD(U)

New Delhi: The Nitish Kumar faction of JD(U) today urged the Election Commission to reject the claim of Sharad Yadav faction over the party symbol saying they have no local standi as the party led by Mr Kumar only was the real JD(U).The five-member delegation of JDU led by senior leader K C Tyagi and comprising party general secretary Sanjay Jha and two Bihar Ministers submitted a memorandum of their demands to the poll panel.
The memorandum was signed by 71 Bihar MLAs, 30 MLCs in the State, two Lok Sabha MPs, 7 Rajya Sabha MPs, 16 office-bearers in the State, 16 state presidents and 141 National Council members in support of the Bihar Chief Minister being the legally elected JD(U) chief, Mr Tyagi said.Sharad Yadav group had claimed to be real JD(U) before the EC on August 25 and had submitted some supporting documents in this regard. Both the rival camps have sought poll panel's intervention in the matter.(UNI)
