New Delhi: A Leh-bound SpiceJet flight from Delhi on Sunday returned soon after take-off after one of its engines was hit by a bird.
Passengers on the flight SG-123 were deplaned safely at the capital's IGI airport.
"On May 26, 2024, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating SG-123 from Delhi to Leh returned back to Delhi after suffering a bird hit on engine 2," an airline spokesperson said.
The airline executive added that the aircraft landed back safely in Delhi and passengers were deplaned normally.
"The aircraft made a normal landing and not an emergency landing," the spokesperson noted.
Bird hits are one of the reasons of flight delays even though airports take various measures to contain such incidents.
