One killed, 20 injured in firing during Idol immersion of Maa Durga in Munger

Munger: One youth was killed, six people and 20 policemen including six Officers-in-charge were injured when anti-social elements opened fire during immersion of the idol of Maa Durga near Deendayal Upadhyay Chowk under Kotwali police station area in the district.
District Magistrate Rajesh Meena said here today that anti-social elements opened fire on the crowd during immersion of the idol of Maa Durga near Deendayal Chowk, some criminals opened fire on the crowd. 
 
One youth was killed, another six people and 20 policemenincluding four officers-in-charge were injured in the attack late last night.
 
" Stone pelting by locals caused injuries to 20 policemen and six other people", Mr Meena said, adding that rumour was being spread by vested interests about youth being beaten up police, which was vitiating the atmosphere. He appealed to people not to pay any heed to such rumours.
 
The officer-in-charge who sustained injuries in the incident included Sarvjeet Kumar of Sangrampur, Santosh Kumar Singh of Kotwali, Shailesh Kumar of Qasim Bazar and Sushil Kumar of Basudevpur police Outpost.Raids were being carried to nab those involved in the incident, he added.(UNI)
