Oppn meets Venkaiah Naidu, gives impeachment motion against CJI

New Delhi: Leaders of many opposition parties on Friday met Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and submitted to him impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Mishra.The Opposition leaders led by leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, met Mr Venkaiah Naidu at his residence and submitted to him the impeachment motion against CJI Dipak Mishra.signed by 71 members, Mr azad told reporters here.
Leaders from seven opposition parties have signed the notice for impeachment of CJI Dipak Mishra on grounds of misbehaviour, he said.The move comes a day after the Supreme Court dismissed series of petitions seeking a fair probe into the death of Judge Loya. The Opposition leaders, however, said the move has nothing to do with the Justice Loya matter as the signature in support of the impeachment motion were taken during the last session of the Upper House. Also, an appointment with the Vice President was sought a week ago in this regard.(UNI)
