Rahul Gandhi mocks PM Modi for ‘drama’ around announcement of ‘Mission Shakti’
Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he described as drama surrounding the announcement of ‘Mission Shakti’ which was said to have propelled the nation into the big league of space powers.
In an apparent jibe at the Premier for creating ‘drama’ around Mission Shakti, “Mr Gandhi tweeted, I would also like to wish the PM a very happy World Theatre Day.”
The comment by Mr Gandhi came after immense suspense over the PM’s tweet on Wednesday morning that he would make an important announcement at 1145 hrs.
Modi desperately trying to reap political benefits: Mamata
“The prime minister’s penchant for mindless self-promotion through limitless drama and publicity-mongering came to the fore once again today when he announced India’s successful launch of an anti-satellite missile (ASAT),” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.
She strongly criticised this announcement through Twitter, saying, “This launch was the culmination of a long-term project involving Indian space scientists, and so the prime minister had no moral authority to take credit for it.”
“Rather, credit should be reserved solely for the scientists and researchers who have been involved in this project,” she added.
Also, through this announcement, she said, the prime minister was ‘desperately trying to reap political benefits at the time of election’, and therefore this announcement was a ‘gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct’ now under operation.
Hence, the Trinamool Congress has decided to lodge a complaint with the Central Election Commission against this announcement.
