Srinagar recorded a season’s lowest at minus 5.3 degree Celsius.
A thick layer of frozen surface emerged at several interior parts of the famous Dal Lake, including Chunti Khul, a rivulet connecting it to Srinagar, and other water bodies due to a further fall in the minimum temperature all across the Kashmir valley on Wednesday.
Small rivulets, nallas, and streams connecting the interior parts of Dal Lake were covered with a thick layer of frozen ice sheets as cold conditions prevailed in Srinagar, with temperatures plummeting to minus 5.3 °C on Wednesday, which was 4.3° below normal during this period of the season for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar is facing intensely cold weather conditions and has experienced the coldest night temperature of the season so far.
Reports of frozen water taps were received at many places in Srinagar with the falling temperature.
Many water bodies were also frozen at Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Kupwara following a dip in temperature. (UNI)
