Berlin/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the German capital on Monday on the first leg of his visit to three European nations.

PM Modi will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and co-chair the 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations in Berlin today.

This will be PM Modi's first meeting with the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after the latter assumed office in December 2021. The two leaders will also jointly address a Business Event.

PM Modi will also address and interact with the Indian community in Germany. This is PM Modi's 5th visit to Germany. His previous visits were in April 2018, July 2017, May 2017 and April 2015

In a departure statement yesterday, the PM said his visit to Berlin will be an opportunity to hold detailed bilateral discussions with Chancellor Scholz, whom he met at the G20 last year in his previous capacity as Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister.

The PM also said that his visit to Germany, Denmark and France comes at a time when the region faces many challenges and choices. “Through my engagements, I intend to strengthen the spirit of cooperation with our European partners, who are important companions in India's quest for peace and prosperity.” (UNI)
