PM Modi, others pay homage to Sardar Patel on death anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid rich tributes to Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary.
Taking to twitter, PM Modi wrote, “I pay homage to Sardar Patel on his Punya Tithi and recall his everlasting contribution to India, especially in uniting our nation and giving impetus to all-round development.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and union Ministers also took to the micro-blogging site and paid homage to Patel.
Birla wrote, "Tribute to the architect of modern India, Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary."
The Speaker said his life will continue to inspire every Indian to work for further strengthening the unity and integrity of the country.
"Pay my homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his Punya Tithi. A visionary leader, committed social reformer, and a dedicated nationalist, his legacy will never be forgotten," External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal in a tweet wrote, "Deepest tributes to the great unifier, the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his Punya Tithi. His life, ideals and thoughts continue to inspire us in all spheres of public life."
Sharing one of the quotes of Patel, Congress president Mallikaarjun Kharge said, "In utmost reverence, we pay our humble homage to the great unifier of India & our inspiration, Sardar Patel ji on his death anniversary." (Inputs from UNI)
