Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring over Rs 20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers across the country.With this disbursement, the total amount transferred under the scheme since its launch in February 2019 has surpassed Rs 3.90 lakh crore.
PM-KISAN is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at supplementing the financial needs of landholding farmers. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, credited in three equal instalments directly to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
In addition to the fund release, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several development projects worth approximately Rs 2,200 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
During his 51st visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, the Prime Minister inaugurated key infrastructure initiatives, including the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi Road and the Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar Road, along with a new railway overbridge at Hardattpur, aimed at decongesting traffic on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura Road.
In a significant boost to the region’s power infrastructure, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for several works under the Smart Distribution Project and for the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure, with a combined outlay of over Rs 880 crore. (UNI)
