New Delhi: Terming the reply of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Lok Sabha debate on Motion of Thanks on the President's address, as a 'political speech', Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that the PM needs to answer questions and not accuse the Opposition.Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr Gandhi said,'I think Modiji has forgotten that he is the PM now. He spoke for more than an hour . However, he did not speak about farmers or providing employment to youth. It was a totally political speech.
'Mr Modi sholuld remember that he is not in the Opposition. He is the PM. People expect him to answer questions on the Rafale fighter jet deal, on the condition of farmers and that of the youth. His criticising the Congress party is fine. but Parliament is not the place for doing it . Here he is expected to answer questions and not accuse the Opposition.'Mr Gandhi said that this was a not a place for the PM to make accusations against the Congress but reply to the nation about the various burning issues before it.Reacting to ,Mr Modi's speech, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said it was terrific oratory but a mixture of misrepresentations and half truths.(UNI)
