PM turns 70, BJP launches nearly 3-weeks-long celebrations

New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday turned 70, joining the 'elite' group of septuagenarian.
To mark the Prime Minister's birthday, the BJP has launched a nearly three-weeks-long country-wide celebrations and events, that commenced on Monday (September 14) and will culminate on October 2.
 
Among the programmes scheduled for Thursday, a collection of letters,written by the PM three decades ago titled-'Letters to Mothers,' to 'Jagat Janani' (Goddess Mother), focusing on his 'ambitions and anxieties' will be released.
 
The weeks-long celebrations will also see a number of other initiatives like distribution of carry bags made of cloth in urban areas as part of BJP's anti-plastic campaign.
 
The programmes will also include holding blood donation camps,free eye check-up camps, spectacle distribution and plasma donation among others.
 
The Prime Minister's 70th birthday coincides with 'Mahalaya,' 'Tarpan,'-paying of reverence to ancestors, and also 'Viswakarma Puja,'- another 'New Normal' during the Corona 'era.'

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 70th birthday. 
 
''Heartiest greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. ''You have presented an ideal of loyalty in India's democratic tradition. My best wishes and prayers  that May  God always keep you healthy and happy and the Nation continues to receive your invaluable services,''the President said in his birthday  greetings. 
 
In his greetings the Vice president said, ''Accept my heartiest greetings on your birthday. On this occasion,  I congratulate you for taking the country to New heights through your efforts..''
 
''It is a matter of happiness that under your able leadership, the country is facing various challenges effectively. Your call for Atmanirbhar Bharat will inspire people and pave way for realization of the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the coming years.
 
''I pray to God that may he keep you healthy and happy and may you continue in the service of nation for many more years,'' the Vice-President said. (UNI)
